Day 31
Day 31: Youth Group
We'll there has been a huge change in plans of the late. It has been awesome how much God gives those who remember to look from His perspective a sense of peace about things.
Our teaching jobs we originally had fell though. We had been riding so much on this job for our work, visas, money, other jobs, and purpose but God has something else in store. And that all okay with me. We also were waiting to let another offer know of our schedule before we could commit to them as well but the original teaching job took so long that this opportunity fell through as well.
But again.. who are we to plan? God tells us: Proverbs 19: 21 "Many are the plan in the mind of man, but it is the purpose of the LORD that will stand."
Once our perspective was set straight we found that the city's international youth group needed volunteers to help with the high schoolers. We emailed with the leader, then met up with the three main people running the program. And what a blessing it turned out to be! We had so much fun going to get lunch with them. They are ages 29, 21, and 22. Two of our new friends (21 and 22 years old) are married just like us. We are actually older than them. haha. It is amazing what they are able to put on.
We ended up going to the Friday youth group and watching about 50 high schoolers from all over the world worship God. It was so much fun to see so many from all different back grounds together laughing, talking, and singing. The program is completely legal here because it is just foreign students and none of the locals. Many of the kid's parents are in the same line of work as Linds and josh.
{Side Note: Something I have come to realize is it is a mission field in itself just to feed and replenish Missionary families. The have needs almost as much as those whom their here for. Please be praying for these families. It is so hard to be in a country that doesn't want them, away from family that they love dearly, away from comfort of health care, away from comfort foods, stains on marriages because of less resources, stain on friendships because they are all you have, hard for the children who don't understand why they live the way they do...etc.. there so much more. I find that it amazes me every day the sacrifices these people make to serve. They are truly God's people.}
I was able to co-lead a small group and found I fell in love with the girls there. They were so full of energy and eagerness to meet some one new.
I ended up staying for the sleep over that night. We stayed up until about 4AM watching about 6 or 7 episodes of So You Think You Can Dance then waking up at 7AM to finish the last two episodes to see who won! It was so much fun meeting these girls, laughing all night, eating tons of junk food, then eating home-made biscuits and gravy in the morning.
That morning Phil came and met with the guys for a Sat. morning Bible Study.
We are so excited to see what God has for us through this.
Please be praying that we will be content with not having teaching jobs at the moment and that He will be using us in big ways for this youth group! It's so much fun and burden-less leaving plans up to God and trusting in His provision. We are so Thankful!

Awesome view from the Youth Group Center. The picture does not to it justice. |
It shows how the mountains surround the city. |
Biggest room I've seen in the country by far! Awesome worship stage! |
Phil and our new friend Nate looking out the window at the beautiful view. |
All the kids playing a game! |
